How are you?
Recently, so much has been postponed, closed or canceled. But not everything.
Before I started 2020, I declared it my year for greatness and growth. I was ready to lay the foundation for my financial, professional, and personal growth.
I am sure you had plans too.
But nothing prepared us for one of the most challenging times of our lives.
But, Right now is an opportunity to invest… in the little things that matter most.
Love, Hope and Self-care has not been postponed, closed or canceled.
At the beginning of the year everything was going ok, not great, but it was the trial month - we had the following month to get it right.
I sought some financial advice and was thinking about what would be my next steps for the upcoming months. Then my country got an earthquake.
Damages were hardly noticeable, I never thought it would be the foreshadowing of what's to come.
The human experience is filled with love, emotions, creativity, happiness, connection, compassion…and laughter. But because we as human beings learn, evolve, and grow through life’s ups and downs, our experience also includes many difficult situations and seasons.
The key right now is to not let life’s difficulties get the best of you.
Think about the most gut-wrenching situations you’ve endured in your past. Doing so likely brings up some very uncomfortable feelings. And the associated attachments you have may stir anxiety, anger or sadness. This is a predicament many of us face.
It was just a couple of months ago the massive spread of Covid-19 started across the world, thousands of people were dying daily, heartbreaking numbers.
Many still suffering.
My focus shifted on learning how to protect myself and those around me from this virus. My livelihood was at stake because now I was being told about a huge pay cut and bills coming full. Tough times.
To prevent infection and to slow transmission of COVID-19, do the following:
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
- Stay home if you feel unwell
How do we get through it? what’s the secret? There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, but all of the possible answers start with…
Let's start with why I have been away from my blog that I love so much, I was trying to get my mind back to the state that it was before I became so overwhelmed by the effects of COVID-19 in my life.
I enjoy inspiring people, provoking critical thinking, and teaching among other uplifting practices but I had to take a step back and give myself some self-care in order to continue sharing with you.
When you let go of your negative judgments, you automatically replace the victim mentality with acceptance and presence. And acceptance and presence together will free your mind and move you forward.
This very same principle applies to our present challenges with COVID-19, especially for those of us who are not ill.
When we think better about our circumstances, we live better in spite of them.
And there is no reason to postpone. Now is the time to practice being more mindful of your judgments and how you respond to life. Of course, that’s much easier said than done. Mindfulness as a daily ritual is the ultimate challenge. It’s a way of living, of being, of seeing, of tapping into the full power of your humanity, without judgment.
Value the moments
Most importantly, what you have to remember is that where you are and what you’re doing at any given moment is absolutely essential.
Because it is the only moment guaranteed to you.
You are not on your way somewhere else.
You are not progressing to a more important time or place.
The present is not just a stepping-stone—it is the ultimate destination.
This moment is where your greatest opportunity lies.
This moment is your life!
I ask you to challenge yourself
It takes roughly 3 months to form a new habit. So for the next 60 days, get up every day and practice being less critical and more mindful—work on looking at the bright side of your life—and you will rewire your brain.
